Dress Code Policy Information
Beginning with the 2012 – 2013 school year, all AIHS students must wear the approved dress code. Please review the below information regarding the dress code and dress code violations. Click Here if you would like to download the .PDF of the new policy.
Student Dress Code
Beginning with the 2012 – 2013 school year, all AIHS students must wear the approved dress code.
Students must wear:
Shirts: Any solid color – Long sleeve or short sleeve collared polo shirts, or button up (brand logos are permitted but they must be small and discreet; two inches and under)
Shirts: may be worn tucked or un-tucked (appropriate length), solid color undershirts of white or grey
Pants: Colors – navy, black, tan – Dockers style pants (boys and girls)
Pants: Must be worn on the hips or at the waist as to prevent the “sag and drag” look. They may be worn with or without a belt.
Skirts: Colors – navy, black, tan – Dockers style skirt option (girls)
Skirts: no more than 4 inches above the top of the knee and may be worn all year
Shorts: Colors – navy, black, tan – Dockers style short option (boys and girls)
Shorts: no more than 4 inches above the top of the knee and may be worn all year
Students will not be permitted to wear:
Cargo pants/ shorts
Flip-flops
Open-toed shoes
Slippers
Jeans
Sweat pants
Track Pants
T-Shirts
Other Options:
Students may wear AIHS team apparel such as “hoodies”, windbreakers and jackets (all year)
Dress-down days:
Dress-down dates will be held on a monthly basis or as needed to support special events such as play-offs, homecoming, spirit week, etc…
Dress Code Violations
All violations of the dress code should be referred directly to Administration. The following process will be employed:
1st offense –
- documentation of student name, date and offense
- parent contact in an attempt to provide a change of clothing
- student will be sent back to class.
2nd offense –
- documentation of student name, date and offense
- parent contact in an attempt to provide a change of clothing
- student will be removed from class rotations until a change of clothing can be provided
3rd offense –
- documentation of student name, date and offense
- parent contact
- student will be removed from class for the remainder of the day
- detention for defiance will be assigned
4th offense –
- documentation of student name, date and offense
- parent contact
- student will be removed from class for the remainder of the day
- Saturday school for defiance will be assigned
5th offense –
- documentation of student name, date and offense
- parent contact
- student will be removed from class for the remainder of the day
- suspension for defiance will be assigned
- Parent conference required
6th offense –
- documentation of student name, date and offense
- parent contact
- student will be removed from class for the remainder of the day
- multi-day suspension for defiance will be assigned
- parent conference required
