    Girls State and Boys State
Both of these programs are open to juniors.  These are government education programs offered to students attending Delaware schools where they are taught about state government during the week-long program in June.  Schools will be represented by two Delegates and two Alternates.

    Eligibility Criteria include the following:
    • Students should have completed their junior year and be in the upper third of their class preferably.
    • Students should show interest in government and current events.
    • Students should have high moral character.
    • Students should have outstanding qualities of leadership.
    • Students should be interested in people and public speaking.

Interested students should see their school counselor for more information and deadlines.

    HOBY-Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Seminar
This program is open to an outstanding tenth grade student.  HOBY’s mission is to provide lifelong leadership development opportunities that empower individuals to achieve their full potential.  One sophomore is selected with demonstrated or potential leadership ability to represent the school.

    Governor’s School for Excellence
This program is an exceptional opportunity for rising 11th graders from all over the state to share in a week of academic, artistic, and leadership development at the University of Delaware.

Guidelines, deadlines, and criteria for eligibility will be available in the Guidance Office.
